The FORBIOPLAST Industrial Advisory Board (IAB)

The FORBIOPLAST Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) is formed by representatives of large industries, SMEs as well as industry associations in the area of utilizations of forest raw resources or by-products of forest connected industry for the production of eco-compatible foams and composites suitable for applications in the packaging, agriculture and automotive sectors. The IAB will have a pro-active role, providing additional input and stimulus to our program by advising for use cases (needs-trends) and their feasibility, and reviewing deliverable reports. Its main role is to help defining research challenges arising from industrial point of view and to recommend Short-, Medium- and Longterm priorities to relevant WPs, also providing feedbacks on FORBIOPLAST research activities and suggest possible links to public and private financing.

Partners of the Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) may provide experts for specific WP boards, and host researchers from the FORBIOPLAST consortium for training programs or courses inside their companies. The FORBIOPLAST project will contribute to the cost of organization of these training programs.

Specific  panel discussions will be organized with members of the Industrial Advisory Board at the annual review meetings of the project.

The benefits of participating to the IAB are the following:

  1. Access the latest results, scientific output, roadmaps and benchmarking exercises achieved in the framework of the FORBIOPLAST project;
  2. Access FORBIOPLAST database of R&D experts;
  3. Get priority assistance in locating the most appropriate partner(s) in FORBIOPLAST for contract research and for setting up contract work;
  4. Establish research contacts on the use of forest resource for the development of eco-compatible materials by use of biotechnology and materials science and get an entry in FORBIOPLAST consortium to advertise your own competence;
  5. Be invited first to new common research initiatives of the FORBIOPLAST partners;
  6. Enhance visibility and PR through workshops and exhibitions organized by FORBIOPLAST;
  7. Get reduced registration rates for FORBIOPLAST industrial workshops;
  8. Get access to information regarding industrial companies active in the utilizations of forest derived resources for the production of eco-compatible polymers and composites;
  9. Receive the FORBIOPLAST newsletter;
  10. Advertise  products or job offers in the FORBIOPLAST newsletter and on the FORBIOPLAST Website through the company logo and a link to the company website.
The IAB is chaired by Prof. Maurizio Penco, University of Brescia (I) who will actively participate to the project Management Board meetings. For his long experience in the polymer industry, before starting his academic carrier, Prof. Penco will act as an effective interface between the often diverse needs and priorities of the industrial and research communities.

We are currently in the process of inviting new members of the IAB. For information about joining the FORBIOPLAST IAB, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , the Project Coordinator.
